The Most Popular Posts of 2017

As the year is coming to an end, we all get reflective on it and try to compose what has happened and where we're moving to next. Last year I did a similar post. For this year I wanted to do the same thing and get a bit reflective. In this post I will showcase the most popular posts of 2016 on Mersad Donko Photography, sorted by month. I wanted to show what was the most popular and which posts got the best response.

With a little work I went through my Google Analytic and Blogger Statistics, and picked the most popular blog post in each month, for 2017. After reading this, I want you to tell me if this is an accurate representation of your own views on what should be popular, and maybe even tell me if some blog posts are missing from this list that you liked.

The Most Popular Posts of 2017

January 2017: A Day Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle

The year started out with my posts about my Germany trip. We started with my journey to the Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle stands majestically surrounded by the Alps and the neighboring lake Alpsee. In 1869 King Ludwig II of Bavaria build Neuschwanstein Castle in order to cover himself from the public. Today 1.3 million people per year visit the hiding place of the King of Bavaria, even in the summer as many as 6000 visitors thronged these places every day. I visited back in December 2016 and it was much more quiet. In this post I showed you this amazing castle, surrounding Bavaria as well as some tips and tricks for a visit.

February 2017: A Night in Ljubljana, Slovenia

This was part of my trip to Munich and Salzburg. I didn't have a chance to edit the images until February 2017, so I presented this final part from my trip in this post. Slovenia is a beautiful country, with lovely lakes, mountains, small towns and coastal sights. Ljubljana is the capital city, though mostly having a small city feel. It has a beautiful city center which I got to explore in the night. The wonderful decorations truly transformed Ljubljana into a winter wonderland.

March 2017: Over the Roofs of Sarajevo

I have shown you the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina many times on this blog, but I don't think I had shown Sarajevo from above. These images were taken from the roof top bar of the Hotel Hecco Deluxe in the city center. You can go up there (it's the 9th floor) and drink your coffee with these amazing views. As you can see there is a lot to discover in Sarajevo and it's a city best explored by foot and this was the most popular post in March.

April 2017: 30 Things to do in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a very popular tourist spot over the last few years. Each year more and more visitors flock in during the Spring and Summer season. It can be hard to choose what to do while you are here, since there is a lot, but all in all it's equally hard to find comprehensive lists by real people who live here that show you what to do and what to see. As I sat down to list these things you have to do while in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I thought about all the places I visited and wanted to visit over the years.

May 2017: Visiting Barcelona: La Rambla, Old Town and Park Guell

May was filled with my travel posts from Barcelona. And this second part was the most popular one. The La Rambla walking lane is the main tourist spot of the city. It pierces the Old Town of Barcelona and it's mostly interesting to visitors for the many shops, restaurants and cafes. To me it was a gateway to the old town of the city with various side streets offering glimpses into the real treasures of this part of Barcelona.

June 2017: A Night out in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. My friends and I spend my 30th Birthday there. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun is lined with shops and restaurants. We enjoyed out night here and even saw some places in the Old Town that I hadn't seen before. This was the most visited post in June.

July 2017: Wedding Bells

My good friend Berina and her boyfriend Adi, got married in July and this was the most visited post in that month. We had a great time, and I shared some images I took with my phone camera. They had a professional photographer hired but I did observe the shooting (I was a guest after all, there to celebrate and not to work). Their dog Ambi was there as well, all dressed up in a tuxedo! :)

August 2017: Visiting Primosten - Sunset and Afterglow

This years summer vacation was broken down in many little pieces. A weekend here, a day visit there. It was time to find some rest before work started again. I decided to visit Primosten, a small town in Croatia, a 20 minute ride south from Sibenik, which I had visited previously. There aren't many people in the town, so it never gets too crowded. I this photo series I showed you some sights I captured with my camera. It was the most popular post in August.

September 2017: Exploring the Schönbrunn Gardens - A Family Vacation

As a family we are not really used to taking group vacations. Maybe it's because we are living together so getting away from each other is more common, then spending even more time together on vacations. Anyway it was high time for some family fun (Beni included). Over a prolonged weekend in September we visited Vienna. One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens.

October 2017: Iceland Golden Circle - Kerid Lake and Gullfoss Waterfall

My biggest trip this year was to Iceland. The 11-part travel series took you to the far northern regions of Europe. In the end it really did turn out to be a amazing road trip. My friends and I visited the whole island, made a big road trip along the ring road, which circles around Iceland. We saw so many natural wonders and lovely places, and this post was the most popular one in October.

November 2017: A Drive along the Atlantic Ocean in South Iceland

The travel posts from Iceland continued into November. In that month this post from the drive along the Atlantic Ocean was the most viewed. This last stretch of our drive took us along the Atlantic Ocean in South Iceland. There are many sights worth exploring here. I showed you three: the Reynisfjara black beach and Skogafoss and Seljalandsfloss waterfalls. The last waterfall we saw was special, because you could walk behind it.

December 2017: Visiting the City Center of Gothenburg, Sweden

The end of year was filled with my trip to Sweden. And while that travel series is still ongoing the most popular post from it so far was part one from the city center of Gothenburg. Two more posts followed and you can check them out here.

Thank you so much for all your visits and for your continued support.

  4. It's easy to see why these were so popular! Each one was awesome! But, I bet your "less popular" posts weren't lagging far behind! I always enjoy seeing what you have!

  5. Your images are all amazing, as are the places you visit and post about. I would never be able to select one to be "most popular." You're going to have to let the statistics make that call. I do remember that I particularly enjoyed meeting your family when you posted your family vacation.
