On top of Marjan Hill in Split [Through My Lens Nr. 285]

I recently had a chance to step outside the borders of my country to neighboring Croatia, back to the seaside. Although a short trip to the city Split I still did enjoy myself a lot. I have visited and shown Split on this blog many times. This time it was a bit different. I wanted to avoid the crowds so I hiked up Marjan hill from which you can get a great view of the city. Marjan is a hill on a peninsula right next to Split. It is covered in a dense Mediterranean pine forest and completely surrounded by the city and the sea, making it a unique sight. Originally used as a park by the citizens as early as the 3rd century, it is a favorite weekend excursion destination and a recreational center for the city. It is also the setting for numerous beaches and jogging trails as well as tennis courts and the city Zoo, all surrounded by the scenic forest. The tip of the peninsula houses the Institute of Oceanography.

Thank you all for joining me in another week of "Through My Lens". I am looking forward to your submissions this week. I hope you will have a good one!
