St. Peter's Church in Brac [Through My Lens Nr. 342]

In today's post we will be traveling back to the island Brac with it's many churches. This is the most famous one. The Church of St. Peter was bulit in the 16th century by its residents. At first, the church had only space around the altar, which was covered. In the 17th century the church was expanded and, in 1612, the parish of Supetar was established. The name Supetar actually comes from the name of this church. I knew about the name for a long time, but never connected the dots. The building of the bell tower began after the construction of the church was completed, around 1627. It was located on the south side of the church near the stairs and house, which was built for the needs of the church. The bell tower was slightly higher than the church, and in 1876 its upper part was built. It's a perfect example of Mediterranean architecture and sights you will come across when you visit the Adriatic.
