Visiting Blidinje Nature Park [Part 2/2]: In the Mountain Forest

In this second part I will continue my exploration of the Blidinje Nature Park. While part one followed the more prominent sights of the nature park, in this part I want to show you more intimate scenes. There is a small dirt road that leads into the mountains, as soon as you drive down into the valley after crossing the "Sovicka vrata". It's the first dirt road to the left, when you drive from Jablanica into the Nature Park. The road then makes way to even smaller paths into the forest, where I made this hike. Come along with me and discover the many hidden treasures.

Moody woods

While the day was very windy, as soon as I stepped foot into the forest a stillness came over me. The big trees shielded me from the winds and even provided much needed shade. Here in the mountains, the sun is way hotter, so water and food, as well as coolness from the trees is much needed. The path actually leads outward into the valley of mountain Cvrsnica, where another jewel of this place is located. But that is another travel series which I will post later.

Step by Step

There are many gorgeous sights here. This small hike was made even longer because I stopped at every turn to take photos. The air is very fresh and I loved all of the mountain flowers that were just beginning to bloom. I loved looking up at the sky and just sitting on the rocks and taking it all in. Very tranquil an relaxing. Being this deep in nature is calming and recharges you completely.

Path out of the woods

Eventually in the end I made my way out of the woods, and started the drive back down the mountain and out of the Blidinje Nature Park. I stopped my car at the side of the road one last time, to take a look at the scenery in front of me. The moody clouds cast their shadows on the mountains. But the sun was also coming through. A very fitting depiction of the times we are in right now...
