First Snow of the Winter Season

The snow has finally arrived. And while I do realize that most of you, that have been under a lot of it recently, will shriek at this notion, let me have my moment of joy. As someone who lives in the southern part of a Southern European country I don't see much of it where I live. In order to really experience it I have to travel up north or into the mountains. As It turns out, I happened to be at both places at the same time recently.

On the top of the mountain Ivan, somewhere in the middle of Bosnia and Herzegovina, snow started falling the day before. And while it was following us on our trip from Sarajevo, it was at this point where its full glory became apparent.

On the side of the road, I found this little quiet scene.

Some of these, even though shot in color, look like black and white images. Autumn is for sure gone here.

A view of the snowed in valley.

The reason for my recent travel north to the capital Sarajevo, was my State Law Exam. This is why I was absent from the blog world on Monday and Tuesday. Good news is, after a two-part written exam and an oral exam on Monday, I passed it, so my friends and I were celebrating a bit. I leave you with that image, and I'll be back with new views from the other side soon.

Thank you all for visiting!

I warm snow scenes but you either leave them or cool them. I'll try cooling mine. I leave my cameras on daylight.

    1. So many snow pictures this week.... and my dream would be to curl up in front of a fire!
Now that I'm in my 60's, I suspect it's too late for me to learn to love winter!
      But your photos are lovely.
Thanks for sharing them at http://www.image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2014/12/a-holiday-recipe-for-you.html

  10. Congrats on passing your exam! I too love snow and get excited when it falls in my town (which isn't very often) Our mountains get lots of snow, but the valleys only rarely.

  14. Wonderful achievement, and a perfect reason for a celebration. And I'm glad to let you have your moment of 'snow' enjoyment. I don't have any more of those moments unless I'm looking at it outside a window while I'm curled up with a blanket, a good book and a warm fire in the fireplace!

  21. I love the starkness of these images - you can really feel the cold. Down here in summer Australia that is saying something. Congratulations on your exam pass. It looks like you have assembled a jolly crowd to celebrate.

  25. I live in the USA in what we call New England. We get plenty of snow most years. Winter and I have come to an understanding....I find the snow beautiful and fun to play in and I love the first snow as well. However I will admit to loving the last snow just as much.

  36. We don't get much snow either, but I missed our first dusting of the season. We were taking a "sun" vacation in Southern California at the time. But there are usually two or three a year, so I may get another chance. - Margy
