Visiting Supetar on Island Brac [Through My Lens Nr. 324]

I will continue with my summer images from the island Brac in Croatia. Recently I showed you the town of Nerezisca, and in today's post I will share some sights from Supetar, which is the main city of the island. With a population of around three thousand people, it is the island's largest town. It is accessible by ferry from the nearby city Split. Old Supetar was situated on the small peninsula where there is now a graveyard. The settlement came to an end during the early Christian era. In the late Middle Ages a new settlement started around the bay known as St. Peter's, from which the town derives its name (and the main town church holds that name still, pictured above).

The Parish church of St. Peter (Sveti Petar) stands on the side of an old chapel which was restored in 1773 in a Baroque architectural style. The town is not that big, and easily explored by foot. There is so much history here for curious explorers as well as some great resorts, hotels but also lonely beaches, which are not too far away.

Thank you all for joining me in another week of "Through My Lens". I am looking forward to your submissions this week. I hope you will have a good one!
