Last night, as the heat of the day finally gave way to a soft breeze, I took a quiet walk across one of the southern bridges in Mostar. It’s a little removed from the crowds and postcard scenes of the Old Bridge, but just as enticing in its own way. From this vantage point, the Neretva River stretches wide and calm, its surface catching the last golden light of the day. The breeze carried the faint scent of fig trees and warm stone, and the rustle of leaves mingled with the gentle hum of the city winding down. The houses along the river glowed in the low light, their reflections drifting slowly in the current. This part of town moves slower. There are fewer tourists, more silence, and just enough time to take it all in. Dusk here feels like a secret Mostar shares only with those who wander a little further.
