There is something special about late-November evenings in Mostar. The days grow shorter, the air becomes cooler, and the sky turns into a wide canvas of soft blues and fading purples. Last night, I stepped outside for a slow walkwith Beni. one of those moments when the city feels both quiet and alive at the same time. Just behind the newly asphalted local football field, the fresh black surface still carries that new “matte glow,” untouched and perfectly smooth. It’s funny how even something as simple as new asphalt can give a place a sense of renewal. The floodlights from the nearby buildings dance across it, creating reflections that look almost painted on. From there, I wandered toward the riverbank. The Neretva, always dramatic, moved beneath the bridge with a soft, determined flow. Cars passed overhead, leaving long ribbons of color across the bridge, and the buildings behind it seemed to wake up under the early night sky.
There wasn’t anything extraordinary happening this evening. No big event, no special outing, just an ordinary late-night walk around my neighborhood. But sometimes that is enough. The lights, the river, the quiet city, and my freshly groomed little companion trotting beside me… it all felt like the perfect way to settle into the night.
