The Perfect Breakfast

It's nothing big or special, but it is something that I have to have on weekends. During the work week I don't have time to really dwell on this, but there is nothing better then a slow breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

It's a soft boiled egg, with sea salt flakes, fresh home-made bread and soft butter. Now, I do realise that I don't have to type down a recipe for boiled eggs, but when it comes to mine, I like them soft boiled. I take an egg that is at room temperature, and put it for 4 1/2 minutes in boiling water. What that gives you, is a firm egg white and a soft, creamy egg yolk. I then put some soft sea salt flakes on the opened egg, and then dip buttered bread inside to scoop everything up.

It's a little pleasure, maybe not even worth talking about, but I do believe that, if something so little can give you so much pleasure, then go for it.

  5. I prefer my eggs hard boiled... :) I don't really have anything that I "have to" have on weekends. But having been on a diet for a while, I try to avoid "sweets" (cake, icecream, chocolate, whatever) during the week but might allow myself a little something on the weekend.

  7. I'm with Tex on the soft egg thing. Runny yolks are not my thing. But that homemade bread looks wonderful. And everything is beautifully photographed, even the soft yolk. :)

  8. It does look good! I haven't had a soft boiled egg in years. If I cook eggs it's usually in an omelette. Enjoy your eggs tomorrow.

  11. Definitely go for it! My husband likes eggs this way too, but I am not a fan of gooey foods, so I cook mine longer.

    1. Well this way they are not gooey, just creamy yolks. Everything else comes out hard.

  17. That's how I like my eggs but they rarely turn out as I like them. I think it's the degree of freshness that counts. The eggs we buy always seem to be a little on the old side, hence we never know how exactly long to cook them.

    1. I think the most important thing is that the eggs are at room temperature before you boil them!

  18. The egg and the relaxed eating of it I can understand and enjoy. The colour of the egg-cup first thing in a morning would be a bit too much for me though.
