Sundays in our Home

I love lazy weekends, but then again who doesn't. On the other side, it's the time in the week when you have to get chores done, things cleaned and simply prepare for the new work week that's ahead. Winter is still in full swing here. Days are cold and our garden has been beaten down by the constant low temperatures and ice. In that regard I can't wait for spring to show it's head, so that my dad and I can start planting again. Since I haven't done a home and garden update in a while, I thought to share some random images from our home today. I hope you will enjoy these.

Bare trees and cut of branches: the flowers and plants in the garden are in their winter sleep.

Beni seems to be the only one that is enjoying the garden these days. :)

The trees in the garden have been tented and are thus shielded from the cold days and wind.

This next shot was spontaneous, so it's not technically perfect, but you get the idea of what we have to deal with on a regular basis here :) You can sense the amount of mud and dirt that Beni tracks into the house. But we let him have his fun! :)

I have been rewatching Lost, and since I'm still on the first season, I have some more time to enjoy it again.

Of course there is the Perfect Weekend Breakfast (for me at least) with my Sunny Morning Fruit Cocktail on the side. Yummy. And while we're on the subject of food, check back for the next post, which will be a new recipe.

What do Sundays look like in your corners of the world?

  5. Love your flower photos! We've had an unseasonably warm winter so far in the Pacific NW. Not good for people who like winter sports (like me!)

  6. I'm enjoying our unseasonably warm winter here in Portland, OR, but I know many do miss the winter weather. Beautiful flowers and, of course, I do love Beni!! And, yes, he does steal the show!! 10. Your home looks restful. The shot of your breakfast is composed beautifully, and the orchid is such a lovely color. Beni is adorable!
Sundays here are quiet - church in the morning, then a walk together, and puttering about the house. As you've said, it's good to slow down a little before the week begins and the pace picks up. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

  12. Thanks for the macro shots. My dog has been tracking in mud and dead grass this weekend, too. I let him out to enjoy because he's a big baby, and he won't play outside if rain or snow is near.

  14. Ah yes winter mode... You look pretty organized garden wise unlike myself, I just of salvage whatever made it through the winter and carry on from there each spring all the while telling myself that plants seem to thrive on abuse. Beni looks absolutely delighted to be out helping you in the yard!
As others from the Washington and Oregon have already mentioned we here on the West Coast of British Columbia are also enjoying many days of above 10° C. (52° F.) temperatures since the second week in January.

  15. I have a similar color orchid, but it has not bloomed this season. It is always a pleasure when it does. Your Beni is a cute dog!

  16. Oh that Phalaenopsis is happy here because its parents are from this country, haha! I love that shot of the bare cut tree, why didn't i think of that. I also love Beni's expression there with a tilted head, we have 2 dogs but they are very difficult to shoot, as they will jump and play with you when they see you looking at them. And i smiled at the confinement of your plants, how difficult to maintain plants in your part of the world!

  17. Your pics of Sunday are beautiful, Mersad. From the rich, silky hue of the orchid, to the fluffiness of Beni's fur, your day looks full of soul and sunshine.

  18. I could just eat that breakfast!

I once owned three orchid plants and loved them but was very surprised when one day a visitor admired my 'silk' flowers!

  19. Your weekends look divine. Ours are living up to usual English weather...cold and damp. Oh well :).

  20. That is the cutest picture of Beni in the middle. I'm usually out taking photos on Sundays but this last Sunday I helped a good friend clean up after a fabulous dinner party Saturday evening. He used almost all of his china, stemware and silver and he does not have a dishwasher. There was a lot of washing and drying going on.

  21. Beni makes up for the lack of green and color during the winter. He is so precious and I love the shot of him running and running.....

    Hab eine schöne Woche!

  26. Oh Beni is so cute and yes dogs seem to have a natural ability to be happy with just playing... I love the pretty flowers too. Your breakfast looks so much better than my Sunday cup of coffee with a newspaper that I usually do...Michelle

  27. Nice to see the lovely flowers! Our dogs track in some mud too. I'm trying to talk my husband into getting more gravel for the driveway to keep down some of the mud.
