Old Alley and Backyard in Mostar

Modern city life has it's beauty and charm. Everything is clean and well organized, buildings are new and life is easy. But there is also something to be said about older alleys and city corners where time is standing still or better yet is showing the age and decay of the city. While Mostar is generally well maintained with the old town being the crowing jewel you can find lots of texture and old paths if you venture outside of the city center.

This is a small old alley and back yard. I was taken by the rustic appeal and immediately took my camera out to shoot it. Though it's nothing special, nor a sight one would seek out, I think the old buildings from the Austro-Hungarian empire, really do have something special about them. I think one could easily restore these buildings and give them new life, since they aren't really build this way nowadays.

  1. I enjoyed these. I prefer old buildings to show their age and not be restored to the point where they may as well be new.

  3. These are interesting scenes and beautifully captured. I especially like the one with the laundry hanging on the line outside the window. That flowering tree is a beauty.

  4. A regular tourist doesn't see this most of the time... .but I would search for it... always so many 'stories' to 'hear' at such places
