Split at Night [Through My Lens Nr. 263]

I don't get around much often during these days, and traveling is pretty much off the table for now. Leaving the country border seems like an adventure, which is so shocking to me, and something I simply can't get used to. Having said that this past weekend I had the opportunity to visit neighboring Croatia and the city Split. It was such a great little visit that reminded me of past days and made me long for things to be back to normal again. These images were taken around 7-8 in the evening. There were no people in the streets. It's a big city on the sea and in the summer visited by a lot of tourists. Even in the off-season, it is still crowded, but on this night the streets were almost empty. I got a chance to see all these historic places without any people, which was fascinating.

I loved roaming the streets at night, and exploring the city in a completely new way, even though I have visited it and seen it so many times. It was also a bit spooky. So the comfort of returning back to my accommodation was very welcomed.

Thank you all for joining me in another week of "Through My Lens". I am looking forward to your submissions this week. I hope you will have a good one!

Depicted in these images is the Diocletian Palace which is one of the best preserved monuments of the Roman architecture in the world. The Emperor's Palace was built as a combination of a luxury villa - summer house and a Roman military camp (castrum), divided into four parts with two main streets. Over the centuries the Palace inhabitants, and later also the citizens of Split adapted parts of the palace for their own requirements, thus the inside buildings as well as the exterior walls with the towers significantly changed the original appearance, but the outlines of the Imperial Palace are still very visible. This palace is built for the Roman emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD.

Catchy images can attract better than a tag line, offer visual cues and greater detail that can be seen and understood. Erin Brown Photography is all about being creative.

  18. When I first started in KC Photography I was fortunate enough to befriend an Advertising Executive who started mentoring me in the ways of commercial photography from a perspective that really counts - a professional customer. Michael taught me the ins and outs of the business, what I could do to get noticed, and how to professionally capture a photograph in a way that would attract customers. I remember clearly the day that Michael shared the old John Wanamaker adage of, "I know that half of my advertising dollars are wasted.
