The brick walls of Old Town Warsaw are a striking reminder of the city’s resilient history. Originally built in the 14th and 15th centuries, these fortifications were designed to protect Warsaw from invaders. Over time, they became a defining feature of the medieval city. The walls, made from traditional red brick, encircle the heart of Old Town. During World War II, much of Warsaw, including its ancient walls, was heavily damaged in the conflict. However, following the war, the Old Town, along with its brick walls, was meticulously rebuilt to their former glory, based on historical records and paintings. Today, the restored walls are a Unesco World Heritage site, symbolizing Warsaw's enduring spirit and determination to preserve its heritage.
