Welcome to the start of a new three part travel series. I took these images this past weekend while I was visiting our mountain cottage with my friends. On Saturday morning we went out for a walk in the local mountains, and this photo series will show the sights we saw along the way. These were taken in the mountain Prenj, which we have visited before. But this time we took a whole new approach to hiking and went through different routs which showed me some parts of this mountain range that I had never seen before.
This is a multi-part photo series. Other parts include:
Part One: Through the Forest
Part Two: A New Path
Part Three: Wilderness of Prenj
Of course the day started out at our mountain cottage. We had our neightbors lab Div there, Selma's dog Brownie, and Beni was in the mix as well. They playes (and got very dirty) in the front yard. We eventually packed up and took the car to drive out to the beginning of our hiking route.
As we arrived in the mountains we parked the car on the side of the road. There are two paths into the forest here. One up the mountain (which we would walk in part two of this series) and the other down the mountain. With the last one being easier to hike on, we decided to start there. As we parked the car a big orange van moved up the mountain road. These roads are used by wood cutters, and I assume this van was on the drive to pick up the cut trees.
I love the deep woods, from sounds to sights. The sunlight came barely through in some places, but the peeks into the valley provided more sunlight. You can find old houses, barns and fruit trees.
At some points the road curved along the mountain, and water is rushing out of the cliffs. The dogs drank it of course. We moved further along the path until we came to the end of it. We then went back to the car and headed up the mountain to the other path.
As we returned to the car it got a bit warmer and the walk on the other side of the mountain was not as enjoyable as our previous hike. But we did manage to return to the woods eventually. More on that in part two.
End of Part One
To be continued...
