Mid-September is one of my favorite times to sneak away to the coast, summer’s crowds have thinned, yet the sea is still warm enough for long swims. On this trip, I found myself at Moracna Beach in Klek, a little stretch of the Adriatic that feels tucked away from time. The approach to the beach is simple but charming, olive trees lining the way and the sound of cicadas still hanging in the air. When I arrived, the pebbled shore was quiet, with just a few locals enjoying the late afternoon sun. The water was crystal-clear, shimmering in layers of turquoise and deep blue, inviting me in after the drive.
Swimming here in September felt like a gift. The heat of July and August had passed, replaced with a gentler warmth, and the sea was calm, perfect for floating on my back and taking in the view of the green hills wrapping around the bay. What I loved most was the serenity. No loud music, no rush—just the rhythm of the waves, the salty air, and a sense that summer wasn’t quite ready to let go. Moracna Beach may not be as famous as other stops along the Dalmatian coast, but in that moment, it felt like my own private paradise.
