Exploring the South of Herzegovina

By definition, Herzegovina is the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this upcoming travel series I want to show some of the sights from the far south end of the country. Some of them are well known tourist spots and other hidden jems, waiting to be explored.

The series will start tomorrow and will encompass three parts, each part covering a different location. Here are a couple of preview images from the new series.

In Part One, titled "Mogorjelo" we will visit this Roman villa rustica (a Roman country house built for the upper class) that dates from the early fourth century.

Part two, titled "Kravice" will have us visiting these beautiful waterfalls. Kravice is a popular swimming and picnic area and, during the summer, it is frequently visited by tourists from Mostar, Medjugorje and Dubrovnik.

Finally in part three, titled "Trebizat" we will explore this southern river. Trebižat is 51 km long and is the second largest losing stream in Bosnia and Herzegovina that drains into the underground and reappears several times.

We had lunch on the river in a nice restaurant, which you will also see in the final part.
