As the night went on we tracked bravely into the uncharted (at least they were for us) inner parts of the old town of Split. You have to imagine (although you can see some of it) narrow streets, intertwining, merging and leading away. Sometimes a feeling of orientation can help you to be guided along, other times there are signs pointing the way. Whatever the case may be I hope you'll enjoy our exploration of the inner city of Split as well as our way out of it.

A Night Out in Split [Part 1/2]
A Night Out in Split [Part 2/2]
Caught Inside
The inner streets of this old town are both exciting as they are scary in places. Lots of people are visiting so you are never alone for too long. I did however try to capture the isolated moments more, since they speak to me more. We found this little square (image below) with a huge wall of violet flowers growing on it. I was perfect for a quiet image.
Right next to it you could see the cavities of the old city, the many paths, entrances and windows that make up this structure. We went into an alley that was almost completely dark and my camera had a hard time to capture it without a tripod, but I did manage in the end.
Bars and Cafes in Split
In these streets and corners of the old town of Split you can find many bars and cafes tucked inside. There are far too many to count really, but all of them are charming, inviting and offer a great selections of drinks, which are much needed when walking a lot. All of them are incorporated into the old structures, balancing perfectly the old with the new.Exiting the Old Town of Split
In the end we made our way out of the narrow streets and paths and eventually returned where our walk had started. The night wasn't over yet though. After making acquaintances with a Labrador and Dalmatian on a small square we went back to the main walking lane. The walking lane was lit up and as the soccer game was progressing, more and more people crowded around the various cafes which had TV's hooked up. We went for some Ice Cream and sat down on one of the many benches along the shoreline and looked at the happenings.
That's where the night slowed down for us. We went back to the parking lot by the train station where we left the car, and headed back to our accommodation. A wonderful night out in Split came to an end.
The End
wunderschön, so bunt und erlebnisreich!!
