In this week's Friday My Town Shoot Out the theme is Retro. I visited a nearby old town last weekend called Pocitelj. I'll post more about the place tomorrow including more images, but what I wanted to share with everybody today is the following shot of the major tower that served as a fortification:
Here are the images in full view:
Once I took it, I remembered that I actually had a picture of my parents from the 70s (1978, I believe) that they took at the almost exact same spot. I had it in my scanned files from my restoration process last year (click here to view them!)
It's funny to see the place then and now, and actually stand on that spot where years and years before my birth, my parents were walking that same path.
Very nice - it is not often you see a photo from years past with one of the present.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It really isn't.
DeleteWonderful image, Mersad. Well balanced and I love the gentle softness it has.
ReplyDeleteThe second has interest and much meaning.
Hope you have a beautiful weekend.
You to Laura, Thanks!
DeleteKlasse Mersad...Alle Achtung !
ReplyDeleteCoole Idee...Das ist ja wohl der Hammer, dass Du ausgerechnet so ein älteres Bild von Deinen Eltern hast....Genial !
Ich wünsche Dir ein schönes WE
Grüße
Danke Timur. Wünsch Dir auch ein schönes Wochenende.
Deletethat is an amazing place and a beautiful photo of it. I like the photo of your parents, like stepping back in time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Sandra!
DeleteGood job. I can see now I can learn a lot from you. Love the look.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peggy.
Deletethat's really awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the edit of the first photo; it's just awesome. Your mother is beautiful and I think it would just be wonderful to have a picture like this and then revisit the area today....
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying visiting your blog and seeing all the beautiful places you photograph....
Have a great weekend....
Thank you so much Nancy! Have a great weekend too!
DeleteWhat a classic! Both your current photo and the retro photo of your parents. I love how sweet and chic they look:) A perfect duo to end the workweek...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
DeleteOh how nice! LOVE that photo of your parents.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteI love that first photo, so beautifully taken!
ReplyDeleteThank you. More from that series will be posted today!
DeleteThat is a beautiful photo work, Mersad! Both pictures are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kaya.
DeleteI love your interpretation of the topic. The photo of your parents is such a perfect picture of the times. And to have them standing exactly where you visited years later is really special. A lot of my photos from the 70s have discoloured badly, so I'm glad that yours look fresh.
ReplyDeleteActually this one was badly discolored too, and went through the restoration process I mentioned above. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on that too!
Delete"Retro" indeed :) Well done calling up the past!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt must have given you chills being in the same spot where your parents' photographer stood. Terrific.
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting to have the same view, years and years apart.
DeleteIf I may make a personal comment I would say that your Mother has the most strikingly beautiful hair.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'll pass along the compliment.
DeleteSuch an interesting post! I think I must also try and do the same with one pic from my parent's days...
