Same time next year [Friday My Town Shoot Out]

By Friday, September 13, 2013 , , , , , ,

In this week's Friday My Town Shoot Out the theme is Retro. I visited a nearby old town last weekend called Pocitelj. I'll post more about the place tomorrow including more images, but what I wanted to share with everybody today is the following shot of the major tower that served as a fortification:

Here are the images in full view:

Once I took it, I remembered that I actually had a picture of my parents from the 70s (1978, I believe) that they took at the almost exact same spot. I had it in my scanned files from my restoration process last year (click here to view them!)

It's funny to see the place then and now, and actually stand on that spot where years and years before my birth, my parents were walking that same path.

SMALL UPDATE: As you can see I have made the blog slightly wider, so that the images can pop-out more. And instead of the confusing + sign on the main page, I have put a "read more.." button. Hope it looks better now.

For more images on the retro theme, please visit Friday My Town Shoot Out, by clicking on the link below. And tomorrow you can expect more images from Pocitelj and our stay there!

  11. I love your interpretation of the topic. The photo of your parents is such a perfect picture of the times. And to have them standing exactly where you visited years later is really special. A lot of my photos from the 70s have discoloured badly, so I'm glad that yours look fresh.

    1. Actually this one was badly discolored too, and went through the restoration process I mentioned above. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on that too!
