Outside the City [Through My Lens Nr. 25]

Moody days have befallen the lands, as strong cold winds from the north have shaken everything up. It's quite freezing outside these days, which makes shooting unbearable. That was the case in my latest venture this past weekend.  I wanted to go outside the city to shoot the river Neretva from the so called Aviation Bridge in the southern outskirts. I couldn't even manage to step onto the bridge from the strong wind here.

I did however manage to get a few shots and take a shot of the memorial plate of the bridge. I wasn't so much interested in the bridge, since it's not that special, but I was more inclined to take photos of the surroundings here. In fact, despite the wind I ended up driving further afield and taking some interesting shots of the landscapes there, which I will present to you in a separate post this coming Wednesday. So for now, thank you for visiting and I can't wait to see what you will share with us this Monday!

Now I want to see what you have been up to. Link down below and share with the rest of us!

    1. If the wind could come through the screen, no one would be able to link in here :)

  5. It is mid-summer here, so I can't imagine it being too cold to take photos. I'm trying to find a tree to stand under out of the sun! Stay warm and have a great week.

  6. I can tell from the wind rippling the river's surface that it was a pretty stormy day and the water is icy but a lovely colour!
    Thanks for hosting!

    1. Thanks. I wished I could have stayed here longer but the wind was too strong. I did manage to get some other moody landscapes on this day though, which I'll show you tomorrow.

  10. Your photo's certainly capture the wintery weather Mersad,
    Very atmospheric.
Finally the grey, dark days have moved away from here, to reveal blue sky's and even some sunshine. I'd missed them so much. It's freezing and icy but I'd much prefer this kind of weather.
Thank you for hosting once more. I hope you have a great week ahead.

    1. We're having the same weather now. It's sunny, but very cold. This morning the water in the garden hose froze completely. :)

  13. Hello Mersad!

Nice photos of the river and town and mountains beyond it. It has been cold here, also, but our cold weather is very dry with the low humidity, and our altitude makes the sun feel very warm, so on a sunny day one is able to do a lot outdoors.

  15. I like these... I don't think I've seen how the town is situated at the base of that range.

    1. That's not Mostar in the far background in these shots. Those are some of the surrounding places. I'm shooting towards east here, Mostar would be to the left side in these images.

You can see how Mostar is situated in the valley in this post, though: Above the City: Return into the Valley.

  16. Mersad, we having the same weather here in Kentucky. Dreary, cold days. Shooting outside is a favorite of mine, but not when it is so cold. You have captured your scenery quite well.

  19. Ah, gray, moody weather and it looks like it does here in Oregon!! I hope you get some clear skies and sunshine soon!! I hope for the same here!! But after looking at the weather report it looks as though these gray, wet days will be around for even longer!! Stay dry and warm, Mersad!!

  20. You can almost feel the cold and wind you described in the narrative when you look at these photos. It does look, as Sylvia said, like the Pacific Northwest of the US in winter!

  22. I am glad you braved the cold and the wind as these captures are beautiful.....It's good to be back....

  23. The river looks a bit rough. It's cold here in Virginia now! For a short time today the temperature was above freezing but the wind was blowing.

  24. It's Summer here in our sub-tropical state of Australia. I'm glad our Winters don't get too cold!
