Somewhere in these snowed in mountains, lies the village Sunji, almost cut off from the rest of the world. The mountain terrain is very rugged, and during winter the bare trees don't offer much protection from the seasonal weather. Located in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, these regions are known for harsh winters, but also beautiful scenic views and landscapes.

A zoom into the mountains, shows endless snowed in fields, that stretch all over the landscape.
Quiet places like the next one, is what makes these regions special.
The houses are located on the steep hillsides, with one road driving through. When big snow storms hit, the village is cut off from the rest of the world. Enlarge this next image to see the village better.
Tucked away in the snowy hills, some houses peak out.
A close up of the road leading to the village. Ice is forming on the side of the cliffs, showing just how rugged these regions are.
Have a great weekend, and I hope you enjoyed these scenic views.
Indeed rugged! But very beautiful! Living in a place like this means you have to think way ahead, have enough on hand to survive the entire winter,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they do have to. Although the nearest big town called Konjic is only 20 minutes away.
DeleteThese are ALL spectacular snow scenes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place. We get a lot of snow where I live but are not quite so cut off from everything else.
ReplyDeleteIt looks a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteThese scenes are very rugged and lovely.
ReplyDeleteSnowy and serene and spectacular, Mersad. I especially love the one you told us to enlarge, with the adorable little village, nestled in the tiny valley; beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Poppy
Thanks Poppy. Yes the houses are so small that you really have to enlarge it to view it better.
DeleteYes, beautiful scenes. Love the craggy trees in the snow. I don't think I'd like driving on those roads in the winter, though!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to be caught there with my car either. :)
DeleteI love all your snowy scenes! Happy Friday!
simply stunning views
ReplyDeleteLooks so peaceful. Love your snow scenes.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Mersad!
stunning views and I could not see the village at all until I enlarged it... i can see why they would be snowed in and unable to drive that road
ReplyDeleteloved the shot of the homes on the hillside. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty lurks about in the mountains of whiteness. =0)
ReplyDeleteHappy Floral Friday
Gorgeous landscapes, beautifully captured!
ReplyDeleteThe crash barrier in the bottom picture has a worrisome gap. ;-)
My niece was on a skiing trip this week, with her school, in the mountains south of Salzburg. There's a dearth of snow and some runs closed.
It is rugged country, but still so beautiful.I might not think it was beautiful,if I was the one stormed in,but as long as everyone has food and heat it could be fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, rugged landscapes. I'm not sure if I could handle living in some place that was so close to town, but so dependant on the weather.
ReplyDeleteWonderful landscape photos, Mersad! The mountain scenery and village is gorgeous.. Thanks for sharing some scenes from Bosnia! Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteEven the snow looks rugged! Your photos show me how there is beauty in bleakness.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder what the reasoning was to build this isolated village the side of this steep slope...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scenes made even more so by the snow!
Wow. Great photos, I'd love to visit here one day.
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is stunning. Great to look at but perhaps not to live there.
ReplyDeleteGreat landscape pictures ! I love snow : everything looks so much better with a little of this magical white powder....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Thanks for taking me on a mental vacation!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos !! I really like the second from the bottom....so much texture ..
ReplyDeleteA weather challenge to say the least. But loved to see the photos. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSnowy landscapes are my favorite as I rarely get to experience them. Getting into the mountains under such treacherous driving makes such places hard to enjoy if you are not prepared and able to handle such poor driving conditions. So, I really appreciate seeing these clean, refreshing, rugged, and isolated scenes.
ReplyDeleteYou actually explained this terrifically!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Awesome article dude! Thanks, Numerous tips!
