Visiting Lisbon

Lisbon is the westernmost capital city in Europe, the capital city of Portugal and the only one along the Atlantic coast. It lies on the Atlantic Ocean and River Tagus. This three-part series explores the city and its surrounding region.

It's often said, that travel is not about the destination, it's about the journey. Well, in the case of my latest outing, those words never rung more true. But more on that later. Let me start at the beginning. The road trip to the mountain Rujiste, started out on a Saturday afternoon.

One of the most recent trips my friend Selma and I undertook was a field trip to Hutovo Blato. It is a nature and bird reserve located in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is primarily composed of marshlands that were created by the underground aquifer system of the Krupa River.

This is a two-parter, shot on the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's one country, but the north and south are geographically divided into Bosnia (north) and Herzegovina (south).
Part One: Up the Mountains
Part Two: In the Valley and Down the Hills

In the South

By definition, Herzegovina is the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this upcoming travel series I want to show some of the sights from the far south end of the country. Some of them are well known tourist spots and other hidden jems, waiting to be explored.

Weekend Escape to the Mountains

Welcome to the first part of my new photo series. In it, we will be traveling to the mountains, mountain Prenj to be precize. Somewhere in the foot of these mountains my family has a cottage, where we often escape to.

Visiting Sibenik 2014

In this new summer series, we visit the old city of Sibenik in Croatia. But we also explore lone bays, quiet seaside towns, golden hours in forests and bays. It's a massive series, divided in nine parts, and i hope you will enjoy it.

Rural Views

We visited the countryside recently for a family gathering. While there, my cousins decided to take a walk through the rural setting, and I made a couple of images. We had a great time, which resulted in cca. 100 images, from which I selected 37 to show to you in these two parts.

Walk on a Summer Night

I took an evening stroll through Mostar with my camera the other night. Part one is about the more modern part of the city, while the second part will be nightly summer shots from the old part of town where the Old Bridge is located.

Visiting Korcula

Welcome to a new summer photo series, that will take us to a very special island located in the Adriatic Sea named Korcula. The island is not very big, but it is still a very popular tourist destination. I have been visiting Korcula with my family since 1999 when I was still a kid, and have been back here several times as an adult.

Visiting Istanbul

We travel to the Orient. In this series you can discover the beauty of Istanbul, the jewel of Turkey, located in Europe as well as Asia. From bazaars to the sultan palaces, this series features all the beauty of this city.

In this Photo Series we travel into East Herzegovina, and discover abandoned villages, lonesome roads, beautiful landscapes and high mountain tops that encircle the valley. It's a personal story as well.

The Drive East

Part Three: Plains and Mountains of Herzegovina
Part Four: The Abandoned School
Part Five: Goodbye to the Past

My friend and I ventured out into the plains above Mostar, where we discovered lone mountains, covered in snow, barren landscapes, the mountain Velez and a glorious view of the city from above!

Part One: The Great Plains
Part Two: Mountain Velez
Part Three: Return into the Valley

The old town of Blagaj is a small town, only a couple of miles south from Mostar. Blagaj is situated at the spring of the Buna river and a historical tekke. We visited this extraordinary place and saw it's old town as well as the river cave.

In this emersive six-part travel series we visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world: Vienna. From it's architcture to gardens, from royal palaces to castles, this series features the old as well as the new and modern Vienna.

The local mountain Rujiste served as a backdrop for this photo series, and actually my first travel in 2014. From mountain slopes, wast landscapes dotted with puffy clouds, to wide valleys where life stands still, this series features everything for nature and hike lovers.

Part Two: Still life in the Valley

Travel back through time with is in this photo series, as we visit the Fortress of Bosnian King Herceg Stjepan from the 14th century. Located a couple of miles south from Mostar, this fortress shows us what once was, and now you can see it too.

In this massive six-part series, that covers six days we spent in the "Paris of the East", we discover the city of Budapest, from cultural and historical sights, to modern and up-beat places of interest.

Part Six: Visiting the Hungarian Parliament

We are going into deep nature! This two-part series features sights from deep in the woods, as we made our way to the spring of the river Sanica, on the footsteps of mountain Prenj.

Pocitelj presents one of few urban ensembles in Bosnia and Herzegovina preserved in their integrity to the present time developed through the several phases of the history, beginning with the medieval period. This unique settlement, listed as a UNESCO heritage site and recent reconstruction has returned the town to its original form.

Sometimes we travel to distant locations, in order to experience something new, but then we look around and see that there is so much to discover in our own backyard. This here is a bistro located in the mountains near Donji Vakuf.
