As we made our way to the top part of the fortress of St. Nicholas, the sun was beginning to set, and some wonderful light greeted us. The upper structure of the fortification has a big plateau, and there are many look out spots. So we started to explore the various nook and crannies. Come along for this penultimate part of our summer vacation photo series.
This is a multi-part series. Other parts include:
Part One: Morning in a Seaside Town
Part Two: A night in the old town of Sibenik
Part Three: Stormy day on the Beach
Part Four: Dusk in the Solaris Beach Resort
Part Five: Night in the Solaris Beach Resort
Part Six: Stroll through the Sunset Forest
Part Seven: Inside the Fortress of St. Nicholas
Part Eight: Remnants of the Past
Part Nine: Golden Hour in the Bay

There are many corners to explore here.
The view to the south-west. A small boat is approaching the Sibenik harbor, just a couple of miles away from the fort.
These highest points of the fortress, really offered a great point for portraits.
And then the fight broke loose :D
Clash!
As we were sitting on the outer walls, we could see Sibenik in the distance.
As we were departing the fortress, other tourists were arriving.
One final look at the ruins...
...and we were headed back into the bay.
End of Part Eight
To be continued...
And we are almost done! Next part is the finale, and I think I may have saved the best for last. See you next time! Until then here is a small preview:
Your photography is superb!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lois...I love the portraits of the ladies!
ReplyDeleteMersad, echt wahnsinnig gute Bilder!!!
Deleteyou saw enough beauty on your vacation to last a life time... I really like the stick fight girls.. made me smile to see them and also the photos are beautiful, as are both the girls.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have the place nearly to yourselves so you could have so much fun with your photos!
ReplyDeleteThe light and shadows gave depth and symmetry to your pictures and the girls ... what can I say, beautiful (wife? sister? girlfriends? ... not telling:) . I love the history in these pictures and your girls reenacting battles of the past is just fun. This is a wonderful tour of a place I will probably never see in person ... and I look forward to your final episode.
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
I mentioned in the previous parts who they are. :) It's my sister Jasmina (in the red dress) and my best friend Selma (in the white top). Thanks for your visit Andrea.
DeleteWonderful photography (as always!). You had some cooperative subjects too! Can't wait to see the next part: I can only imagine . . .
ReplyDeletebeautiful light, certainly! love the old stonework.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful skies and fascinating old stonework indeed I love it! Superb captures as always, Mersad! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed so much catching up on missed posts Mersad.. oh la! what a trip, what marvellous images you've taken! I can see why the St. Nicholas fortress was your favourite, the images from inside last post were spectacular.. that place is a photographers dream oui! Loved the way you led the eye off on a mystery through arches, around secret corners and up/down stairs, brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visits and checking back. As you said, it's a photographer's dream to visit such a place, and I'm lucky to say that I have been here three times now.
DeleteYou were so lucky to travel with two very beautiful models to ad a touch of glamor to your gorgeous photographs. The depth of color in your shots is so stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful photos convey a sense of fun and adventure on your visit to the fortress. Jasmina and Selma are perfect models to add a touch of style and glamour. These might be photos that I would expect to see in a fashion magazine.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your lovely comment.
DeleteThese posts get better as we progress through your holiday.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great place for portraits but the skies are perfect.
Thank you. I think that's because of the locations we visited. As soon as you drift away from the usual tourist spots it gets better.
DeleteThese are so stunning!
ReplyDeletelovely portraits...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And that driftwood fight was too funny! :-) Love your photos...hate the graffiti. :-) What an interesting place to see.
ReplyDeleteI tried to shoot around the graffiti as much as possible, but it's simply everywhere. A real shame!
DeleteBeautiful photos...and...you girls are just too cute.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful images. Love the photos of the girls alone against the cloudy sky... brilliant!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous location, excellent portraits.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful. I like the light in that second photo.
Hammer !!
ReplyDeleteGrüße
What can I say when everyone has said it for me? These photographs are perfect, especially the ones of the girls. I was going to comment on the first one until I saw the others and decided that they were all excellent. You should definitely specialise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Valerie for the nice words. So glad you enjoyed them.
Delete#2 I think they are docking posts. Looks to me like something was bound to these metal circles.
ReplyDelete#30 and #32 Somewhere in the distance, rain was falling, and it was caught on camera :)
Of course your photography is amazing but you sure hang out with some lovely ladies. Like the pics to u too.
