There is this thing with parents and dog owners, that always makes them show images of their loved ones. Being a proud dog owner, as much as I try to resist the urge to share too much, sometimes i just fail. To be honest, most of the images I have are of my dog Beni, and I could easily fill a whole new blog with images from him.
On the other hand I want to celebrate the fact that I have him in my life. Dogs give us so much and ask for very little in return. They are there for us in ways no other living being ever will be. It's the calm they provide, the energy they share and instincts they have.
I think animals in general are great photo subjects, and you can learn a lot about portrait photography when taking pictures of them.
We are drawn to dogs because they are the
uninhibited creatures that we could very well be ourselves if we weren't
compressed by the heavy rules of life. They fight for honor at the first
challenge, are brave just because they are, and they do not, for all their great
instincts, appear to know about death. Being such wonderfully uncomplicated
beings, they need us to do their worrying.
The great pleasure of a dog is that you may
make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he
will make a fool of himself too. ~ Samuel Butler, Notebooks, 1912
your little beni is so cute! i love dogs too. my baby dog is ozzy, he's a rottweiler, and right now i hear him scratching at the door to go outside ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, scratching on doors, and the way they touch you with their paws sometime, makes for a rather amusing way of them trying to get noticed.
DeleteBeautiful Beni, in more ways than one. I agree with you about dogs, they are so loving and, yes, so understanding. They understand more about us than we realise. Oh how I miss my dogs. More pictures of Beni, please, Mersad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. I agree also that they understand more about us then we realize.
DeleteBeni is so beautiful indeed, Mersad. My dear Sam Schnauzer died last April and he was twelve years old. I still miss him SO much. Thanks for sharing your wonderful little friend!!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that. I can't even begin to imagine what that must feel like.
DeleteI agree 100 percent... we often talk about how happy our dogs make us and that without them we would not have laughter every day of our lives. if only humans were like dogs. Step on their paw and they don't get mad, they don't pout, they lick us and say sorry i was there....
ReplyDeleteBeni is adorable and the second photo caused a big smile... we smile when they sleep, when they play.. our dogs bring much joy into our lives.
A very good comment Sandra. If only we could aspire to learn from them about compassion and friendship.
DeleteI love dogs and enjoy seeing photos of them. You can post as many photos of your cute doggie as you want!

ReplyDeleteThanks. Did you post any images of Kona? I can't remember If i saw her on your blog...

ReplyDeleteThank you. They are precious, aren't they.

DeleteBeni has the most expressive soulful little face. I can see love and happiness in his eyes. Excellent photos!
ReplyDeleteIt takes a while to get there, but there is a lot of expression in his face. Thanks so much for visiting.
DeleteThat Samuel Butler quotation is excellent and appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jack for stopping by.

Thank you Linda.
DeleteComposicions muy bonitas!
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo!
very cute...:)
ReplyDeleteBeni is very cute! Nice photos too!
ReplyDeleteBeni is precious! And I love your evaluation of why dogs are loved so much by us...of who they are as creatures. We miss our 95-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, Penny. She had cancer and had to be put down about four years ago. That was like losing a dear, special friend. She had a big heart.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to imagine what it must have felt like. So sorry for your loss, I know that the loss still hurts, but she will forever be in your memory and heart.
DeleteWow! I agree entirely. I have to stop myself posting too many photos of our new boy, Bing a german shepherd. Currently sitting next to me on the settee gazing out of the window. My other elderly dog, Freida is laying in her corner, aware that I will be taking them both to the beach shortly. Great post for ABC Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteDenise ABC Team.
I bet he is amazing. I'll visit your blog to see him too.
DeleteBENI is a very handsome canine! Kate, ABC Team

DeleteWhat a cutie!
ReplyDeleteROG, ABCW
Thank you Roger.
DeleteYou keep showing off that dog. He is beautiful. We have 3 cats and I show them often. We miss our dog, Brandy. She was a yellow lab and our pride and joy. We lost her to liver failure several years ago. She was 12. We miss her so much. I still keep her favorite toy beside my desk.
ReplyDeleteWe decided not to get another dog due to the extreme responsibilities. Just planning vacations or overnight trips was exhausting. We never left her with anyone so finding places we could take her took a lot of time. We have always had cats. They could care less if we go away for a few days, as long as we leave plenty of food and scoop the litter boxes before we go. Ha!
Wonderful photos of your best friend!
You made a good choice then. I think people tend to jump into pet owning too fast, before deciding if they can really handle it. I can't even imagine how it must have felt like to loose Brandy. Thank you so much for visiting and your comment.
