I feel like the time has come to return to brighter days. And since that is not possible with images taken right now, I suggest that for this post we travel back to early spring last year. This week's theme at the Friday My Town Shoot Out is Rustic Details, and these landscape images are full of them. This location is a 20 minute drive away from Mostar.

There is also something else about this place. It is believed that an old Illyrian tribe, called Daorsi, lived here. You can find remnants of the walls all over the hills. The Daorsi lived in the valley of the Neretva River between 300 BC and 50 BC.

DeleteSome of that landscape with the sheep looks like parts of Ireland.
ReplyDeleteI agree, there is a flair of Ireland in them.

DeleteYes I agree with ruth, but I was going to say northern scotland.... This look of rocks just tossed about. And I also agree with Brian, the light is wonderful. The yellow and blue tones add a feeling of warmth. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting Ginger. It's interesting to see different views of people about what the landscape reminds them off.

DeleteLovely to see a little Spring...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go back in time to see who built these walls, what their village was like, how they lived. The past fascinates me.
Hope you have a super weekend, my friend.
It's quite interesting to think about it actually.
DeleteOh I love these photographs. They reminded me of days in the country and sunny climes.

ReplyDeleteHow very lovely! Wonderful shots. The sheep make me think of "sweaters on the hoof." ;)

DeleteI, too, love the sheep. It must be difficult farming in this area as the ground looks so rocky. Serenely beautiful pics.

ReplyDeleteThanks, the sunset added extra vibrancy to the colors.
DeleteBeautiful landscapes and I love the cute sheep! Lovely photos, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen.
DeleteWhat beautiful countryside! As I have looked back through some of your photographic posts, it is easy to see some of the reasons why my former adult ESL students from Bosnia missed their homeland so much. It is beautiful there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Susie. Glad to see you stop by.
DeleteI loved seeing these images of the sheep and the pastoral landscape...especially since they are rich in prehistory, which is one of my favorite subjects! I want to Google this tribe and learn more about them!
