Where The Lines Lead

When you think about it, lines have a lot to do with photography. They can focus an image, they can create an interesting perspective, but also they can help in framing an image. Like in the first image in this post, the lines of the window that are in focus, anchor the whole image and let the clouds that are moving by in a blur, be what they are. In fact, that small portion of focused window, allows the whole rest of the image to be blurry, which otherwise wouldn't work.

  4. Love your perspective! I paint, and as a painter I have always been aware of lines leading in to a focal point, lines bringing an image to the infinite horizon, and lines "framing" a picture. I tend to have a good eye for a shot in photography because of it, but seldom produce a photograph I am proud of! :-) I should probably stick to painting.

    1. Framing does help a lot, especially if you find a way for the lines to lead the eye of the viewer.

  10. The window shot is most interesting, and I like the clever self-portrait. Are you left-eyed? I always use my left eye in the viewfinder, but my hubby tells me I'm doing it wrong. :)

  26. Mersad, good morning. nice photo, through windows is always a favorite of mine. like shots of the Vatican through one of the arrow slots of the Castle Sant'angelo in Rome. The idea of what 'they' saw always spurs me to take the shot.
